Quantitative susceptibility mapping in ischemic stroke patients after successful recanalization

چکیده
Abstract Quantitative susceptibility mapping (QSM) is a novel processing method for gradient-echo magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). Higher in cortical veins have been observed on maps the ischemic hemisphere of stroke patients, indicating an increased oxygen extraction fraction (OEF). Our goal was to investigate patients after successful recanalization order analyze value QSM predicting tissue prognosis and clinical outcome. We analyzed MR images 23 with due unilateral middle cerebral artery (MCA)-M1/M2 occlusion acquired 24–72 h thrombectomy. The susceptibilities were obtained from compared between territory, ipsilateral non-ischemic MCA territory contralateral territory. As outcome variables, early infarct size functional disability (modified Rankin Scale, mRS) 3–5 months used. median core 41% lower 38% than Strikingly, none prominent vessels high signal found recanalization. Venous values within did not correlate volume or months. Low venous occluded vessel likely indicates poor arising damage. identify peri-infarct as potential surrogate former penumbral areas. no correlation parameters

Therapeutic hypothermia after recanalization in patients with acute ischemic stroke.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Therapeutic hypothermia improves outcomes in experimental stroke models, especially after ischemia-reperfusion injury. We investigated the clinical and radiological effects of therapeutic hypothermia in acute ischemic stroke patients after recanalization. METHODS A prospective cohort study at 2 stroke centers was performed. We enrolled patients with acute ischemic strok...
متن کاملDiagnosis of patients with Parkinson's disease using quantitative susceptibility mapping
Introduction: Parkinson'sdisease isassociated withirondeposition in the brain. The T2-weighted imaging, T2* mapping, R2 mapping and Quantitative Susceptibility Mapping (QSM) are three common methods to evaluating the iron deposition in brain. Among three methods the QSM is more sensitive than others. Few studies have been used QSM for evaluating the iron deposition in the basa...
متن کاملQuantitative T2'-mapping in acute ischemic stroke.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE Quantitative T2'-mapping detects regional changes in the relation of oxygenated and deoxygenated haemoglobine and might reflect areas with increased oxygen extraction. T2'-mapping in conjunction with an elaborate algorithm for motion correction was performed in patients with acute large-vessel stroke, and quantitative T2'-values were determined within the diffusion-weight...
متن کاملRecanalization and reperfusion in acute ischemic stroke
Revascularization remains the most intuitive strategy to reverse ischemic injury associated with arterial occlusion in acute stroke. Revascularization may lead to opening of an occluded artery, or recanalization, yet restoration of downstream flow, or reperfusion, may not ensue. Revascularization strategies and novel devices continue to broaden options for the treatment of acute stroke, but it ...
متن کاملEndovascular recanalization therapy in acute ischemic stroke.
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE To assess the outcome in acute ischemic stroke patients not eligible for systemic thrombolysis (outside the 3-hour time window, after surgery, or on anticoagulant) undergoing endovascular recanalization therapy (ERT) at the Columbia University Medical Center (CUMC) and to determine US nationwide usage and outcome of ERT in acute ischemic stroke. METHODS Patients treated...
